Eric Stanley

Eric a Stanley is a high school dropoutĀ turned PhD. student in the History of Consciousness program at UCSC. Narrowly escaping a childhood in Richmond, Virginia Eric now, under the direction of Donna Haraway and Angela Y. Davis, is writing about trans/ queer violence, necrocapital andĀ confinement by theorizing societies lived otherwise Eric calls near life. Among the collectives that keep Eric busy are Gay Shame SF and Critical Resistance. Along with Chris Vargas, Eric directed Homotopia and the soon to be released sequel, Criminal Queers. Eric is also working on editing the first ever trans/queer prison studies anthology with Nat Smith called Captive Genders: Trans Embodiment and the Prison Industrial Complex which will be published by AK Press. Eric’s writing has appeared in That’s Revolting: Queer Strategies for Resisting Assimilation, Nobody Passes; Rejecting the Rules for Gender and Conformity and also the magazines Make/Shift and Left Turn.
