Eric a Stanley is a high school dropout  turned PhD. student in the History of Consciousness program at UCSC. Under the direction of Donna Haraway and Angela Y. Davis, Eric is writing about trans/ queer violence, necrocapital, confinement, and visual culture. Along with Chris Vargas, Eric directed Homotopia (2006) and the sequel, Criminal Queers (2011). Eric is also the editor the first trans/queer prison studies anthology called Captive Genders: Trans Embodiment and the Prison Industrial Complex which will be released by AK Press on August 15, 2011. Eric’s most recent article, “Near Life, Queer Death: Overkill and Ontological Capture” appeared in the  Summer 2011: Issue 107 of the journal Social Text, you can download it here. Eric has also been included in numerous anthologies including Against Equality: Queer Critiques of Gay MarriageThat’s Revolting: Queer Strategies for Resisting Assimilation, Nobody Passes; Rejecting the Rules for Gender and Conformity and also the magazines Make/Shift and Left Turn. Among the collectives that keep Eric busy are Gay Shame SF and Critical Resistance.
